An actor and voice artist from South Africa, Sydney Ramakuwela is 34 years old. He was born on April 27, 1988, in South Africa’s Limpopo Province’s Tshitereke Village, close to Thohoyandou. His mother Betty Ramakuwela worked as a street vendor, selling produce. Sydney began performing when he was still in elementary school and a part of a community theater club. He participated in a radio play for Phalaphala FM throughout high school.
Educational Background
Due to financial limitations, he was unable to continue his studies after matriculated in 2006.
He didn’t proceed to go to University because his mother couldn’t afford to pay for him. His mother earned money from selling veggies. In 2007, he got a job from Duma Ndlovu at Muvhango under the condition that he will go back to school again. The year 2008, he began acting on Muvhango while enrolled for a logistics management at Unisa. Then after he graduated and obtained his Diploma in logistics management before continuing to study B.Tech. He sharpened his skill for acting by attending workshops at Word of Mouth Acting Workshops.

Career journey
His passion for acting began when he was in primary school. He started by joining and acted on Nzhelavhalimi Community Theatre Group. So after that his talent for acting was discovered by Radio Producer called Dakalo Kwinda. The radio producer made him to act on radio drama on Phalaphala FM. In 2008, he got a role to act on Muvhango as a hard headed mayor Mulalo Mukwevho. Muvhango creator, Duma Ndlovu saw his talent during Muvhango auditions in Venda, that’s when got the role from Muvhango.

Sydney has a daughter whom he loves so much and It’s his only daughter. He grew up without a father so he gave his daughter, a father’s love that he grew up without.
“I love being a father. It is challenging sometimes, but I always make the best out of it. My wish is to become the best father to my daughter. I would love to get married one day and have my own family. I would love to do all the things I didn’t have for my children,” said Sydney.

He sometimes gives back to the community especially his hometown. Sydney is passing on the skills he acquired from his career as an actor to young artist. He directs those community theater plays.
“I always remember where I come from and giving back to the community is something that I love doing,’ he said
