Early life
Upile Uthixo Bongco is a South African actress who was born in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape. Upile Bongco was born on the 5th of October 1996. She is of Xhosa ethnicity, but she also speaks English, IsiZulu, and Afrikaans. Although little is known about her upbringing, we do know she learned Afrikaans in school and grew up in the Eastern Cape. She has a sister who studied medicine and is now a physician. [1]

She attended acting school, as do most actors. However, she graduated with a double major in Drama and Psychology. She graduated from the University of Rhodes in 2018. Following that, she took part in theatre plays in order to build her CV and resume.

Career of Upile Uthixo Bongco
Her acting career dates back to high school, when she performed in houseplays with Micayla Eretha Fillis.
Upile made her National Art Festival debut in the second year of her studies at Rhodes University by performing in Thembela Madiliki’s production, Nyanga, which won Best Production at the Student Theater Festival in 2016. Her other recent works and performances include a reworking of Reza de Wet’s missing, directed by Michelle Mosalakae, and Pumla, a devised work directed by Masixole Heshu during the 2016 Young Directors’ season.
Upile uThixo played a major role in “The Empire Builders,” an audio adaptation of Boris Vian’s 1959 play. The Market Theatre Lab and the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS) staged the play, which was performed by Kwasha Theatre Production. She landed a role on Isiphetho Destiny in 2024, playing Ntando Grootboom. Ntando grew up in Mzimhlophe before moving to the Eastern Cape’s rural areas. However, she returns to her home after her husband’s death because his family blames her for his passing. She appears meek at first, but her true colors emerge later on.
Upile’s role on Scandal
Upile Uthixo made her Scandal etv debut in March 2021 as Poloko, Mr Mamba’s (Simo Magwaza) daughter. She was performing alongside her brother, Wandi Molebatsi (Duma from Scandal). Poloko despises her father, Mr Mamba, because he was never present in her upbringing, so she wants to bring him down in a poll.
