Zenzeli began working as a performer at a Grahamston theatre company after receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He worked here for three years, and the job allowed him to travel around neighbouring countries while also honing his acting skills.
This exposure influenced Xulu to relocate to Johannesburg in search of a better chance of becoming a successful actor. Fortunately for him, an agent noticed him after less than a month in the city and offered him a role as Vukile Mbuli in the SABC 1 show Mfolozi Street.
