List of South African musicians who died in their 30s

There is a phrase that says “life begins at 40”. Unfortunately these South African musicians couldn’t make it to 40 years. They passed away in their 30s, they were young and passionate. Their lives were cut short.

Firstly, we have Tumi Tladi whose full name was Itumeleng George Tladi. He was a rapper, singer, songwriter, videographer and dancer. Tladi breakthrough into music began in 2012 after he appeared in a music video with American stars Willow and Jaden Smith as dancer. In 2014, he released his first album called Punchline and he became famous for his hit titled Basadi. The year 2020, he also released a six track call Excuse me for being me. Tumi died on the 10th of July 2022 at the age of 30. His cause of death is unknown.

Second, we have Thami Shobede whose full name was Siphiwe Thamsanqa Shobede. He was well known for being runner-up on Idols SA season 12 in 2015. Since then he has been singing and was recording with Gallo Reords Robert. The singer died in September 2019 after he fell down while performing on stage. He went on coma and died in Kalafong Hospital at the age of 31 years old.

Third, we have Ricky Ricky whose real name was Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado. He was a well-known musician, rapper, and producer in South Africa. His famous song hits includes Boss zonke and Nafukwa. Ricky Ricky died on 23 February 2022 after committing Suicide. He was 34 years old at time of his death.

Fourth, we have Pro Kid whose real name was Linda Mkhize. Pro Kid was a South African rapper and producer. His breakthrough in music was after he released his single titled Soweto. After he released another one titled Wozobona. Pro Kid died 20 August 2018 after a seizure, he was 37 years old at the time of his death.

Fifth, we have Sfiso Ncwane who was a gospel singer and composer. He was well known for single titled Kulungile and others. Sfiso died after he fell down while performing on stage. He was rushed to the hospital where he passed away 5 December 2016. He was 37 years old when he died.

Sixth, we have Flabba whose real name was Nkululeko Habedi. He was well known Hip hop artist. He was stabbed by his girlfriend after an argument and he passed away due to the injury. Flabba died on the 9th of March 2015, age 37 years old.

Seventh, we have HHP stage name Hip hop Pantsula. His real name was Jabulani Tsambo. He was a South African Motswako rapper who mostly rapped in Setswana. He died 24 October 2018 after committing Suicide at his home. He was 38-year-old when he died.

Eighth, we have Mandoza whose full name was Mduduzi Tshabalala. He was famous for his Kwaito music and his single Nkalakatha. He died of cancer in 2016 on 18th of September. He was 38-year-old when he passed away.

Ninth, we have Lundi Tyamara who was a gospel singer. He was best known for his golden voice which touched people spiritual. He died in 2017 on the 27th of January. He suffered stomach TB and liver condition. He was 38-year-old at the time of his death.

Tenth, we have DJ sumbody whose real name was Oupa John Sefoka. He was DJ and music producer. He died in 2022 on the 20th of November after he was shot in hails of bullets. He was 38-year-old when he passed away.

Eleventh, we have Vuyo Mokoena was a South African gospel artist. He was well known gospel who sang alongside legendary such as Rebecca Malope. The singer died after suffered brain tumor in 2008 on 23rd of May. He was 39-year-old when he died.

12th, we have Brend Fassie whose stage name was Mabrrr. She was singer, songwriter, dancer and activist. She died after collapsed at her house. The cause of collapse was confirmed to be overdose of pills and was discovered that she was HIV positive. She died at the age of 39-year-old.
