What happened on the day of Skhumbuzo Mbatha’s arrest?
On 8 March, Skhumbuzo Mbatha, well known as Meneer Manaka in Skeem Saam, was drinking driving under the influence of alcohol. It’s unknown whether he was in a tavern or a party. After drinking, he took his car to drive around 8:30pm.
Along the road while driving, he was stopped by the traffic department. As the traffic officer got closer to him, he smelled alcohol. Immediately he took the testing machine for alcohol consumption. Unfortunately, the testing was showing that Skhumbuzo drank alcohol above the limit.
The police officer also took a blood sample to test and confirm the alcohol consumption; unfortunately, it was very high. After that, Skhumbuzo was arrested for drinking and driving under the influence of alcohol.
The traffic officer handed him over to the nearest police. He spent the whole night in the cell. On Sunday morning, Skhumbuzo was released on bail of R1500. He is expected to appear in court soon.
