Lindani Nkosi is a South African born actor best known for playing Lincoln on Isidingo. The famous actor was born March 5th 1968, age 54 years old as of 2022. His hometown is in Soweto but currently stays in Johannesburg. He loves to spend quality time with his family rather than walking around being a celebrity. Also he is married man with three children. His wife’s name is unknown. Talking to Sowetan he shared that he is not a celebrity. He avoid going to events even in public. This doesn’t mean he don’t go out, he can go for a movies, theater. It doesn’t bother him to be seen in public but going for events makes him insecure.

“I am not a celebrity. I don’t see myself as one. I am not a public person. I stay away from public events. I can go to movies. I can go to the theatre but I am not worried about being seen in public. People may think that I want to be out there as a celebrity but I don’t. I am very private and like to spend time with my family.”

As famous as he is, the expectation are higher that people think he is a celebrity although he doesn’t. Being a celebrity comes with a lot of work.
“I don’t listen to what is being said or what issues there are because I am too focused on my own acting. Even after so many years‚ I still go to work with the sense of Í have to do this right.’ I don’t want to miss a step. I don’t go with an arrogance that says I have gone there and done that. I care about it too much.”

Lindani seems not to believe in himself because he doesn’t see himself as star. He has low self esteem when it comes to himself.
“If you want to put me in that category‚ I urge you not to. Look at other people‚ not me. I think I lack a bit of confidence when it comes to my outlook on performances. I don’t see myself as a star. I don’t see myself as the best. I am able to deliver but if you think I am better than other people‚ I am not.”

The way he is insecure, he became a so difficult for him. He can even stop taking part in certain things because he is afraid and uncomfortable. The thought of making mistakes and fall short carried him.
“I am very hard on myself. To the point that I would rather not take part in things I am scared of or feel comfortable doing. Also‚ if I feel like I will fall short. I get wary of making mistakes. That is the nervousness that comes in‚ even after all these years that stays with me. I go with it everywhere. When I overcome it‚ somehow magic happens.” (1)

A year ago it was revealed that Moshe the yellow meerkat was played by Lindani. Lot of people were surprised while others assumed it was him because they recognized his voice. Most were so glued on Television that they forget to ask themselves who voice over Moshe.

Career journey in acting

He acted in local dramas such as The Lab which was aired on SABC1. And also he was a guest who starred on Rhythm City as Mannie. Another guest appearance took place on the international television series ‘The No.1 Ladies Detective and in the pilot episode of The Philanthropist, in 2009.

In 2006, he won the Naledi Award for Best Performance in a Musical for his role in Ain’t Misbehaving. His performance in theater shows include Marabi, West Side Show, Summer Holiday, Five Guys Named Moe and The signs.
He became part of the cast for SABC2 parliamentary drama series called 90 Plein Street as S’fiso Ngema. S’fiso was an MP from a small breakaway Pan-Africanist Party with strong views on the land issue.

Other work besides acting

He is a founder member of The Whizz Dancers where he did African, Jazz, Ballet and Contremporary Dance; as well as the Forgotten Angle Company, specialising in Physical Theatre Movement.
