After graduating from Riebeek College Girl’s High School, she studied journalism and media studies for two years between 2008 and 2010 at Boston Media House. She then worked as a writer, photographer, marketing assistant, and PR assistant.

Career journey

She made her on-screen playing debut in Mfolozi Street in July 2014 as Ziyanda, a character she later played in Season 2 in 2016.

Zikhona made many television appearances in 2015, including roles in the SABC2 comic Gauteng Maboneng, the e.tv soap opera Rhythm City, and the Mzansi Magic soap opera Zabalaza.

In the e.tv drama anthology series eKasi: Our Stories episode “Thula Thula,” Zikhona plays the lead part of an ambitious young girl whose dreams are thwarted when her Uncle mistreats her. The episode debuted on January 11, 2016, a Monday.
She had a guest appearance in the fourth season of the e.tv drama series Umlilo that same year.

She received her first major television role in the Mzansi Magic adolescent drama series Is’thunzi, which chronicles the antics of four females who identify as “Ninjas,” in October 2016. She portrays the young wife Londi, who opposes her in-laws by going back to school to earn her matriculation.

She also acted on Thando as Thando. The film tells the story of a young girl in high school who is constantly bullied because of her appearance. Thando deals with bullying, grief, and suicidal ideation. She claims to identify with Thando’s character, particularly the elements of grief and colorism. Zikhona made an appearance on the drama series DiepCity where she potrayed a character as Asanda.
