On March 17, 1969, the well-known actor was born in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Siyabonga Thwala is 52 years old. The actor has been successful in maintaining his privacy. Career of Siyabonga Thwala

Thwala began his career as a performer in 1989. He made his acting debut in the 1996 made-for-TV movie Born Free: A New Adventure. On the same year’s Tarzan: The Epic Adventures, he made a brief cameo appearance in the episode “Tarzan and the Scarlet Diamond” (season 1, episode 5).In 1998, he declined the role of Godlieb Mofokeng in the brand-new SABC 3 soap series Isidingo because he didn’t feel ready to commit to television for the long term. Soon after, he was chosen to appear in the TV comedy Streaks, which included the seasoned Themba Ndaba and was set in a Cape Town hair salon. In 2003, he was given the Jimmy recurring role on Gazlam.

Siyabonga Thwala rose to fame for his portrayal of Vusi Zwane in the Scandal! episode that was broadcast at the time on e.tv.His portrayal led to him later winning the Golden Horn Award (South African Film and Television Award) for best actor in a TV soap opera. He was chosen to play Paul Mashaba, the younger brother of journalist Seputla Sebogodi and ruthless tycoon Kenneth Mashaba on SABC 1’s Generations in 2007. 2010 saw his departure from the series.

His 2013 role as taxi-boss Mpiyakhe Zungu on Mzansi Magic’s critically acclaimed Isibaya was arguably the biggest of his career to date. The audience grew to love the character of Mpiyakhe Zungu to the point where for the bulk of the show’s duration, the character functioned as the focal point around which the plot was developed. For his portrayal of the role, he received the 2014 South African Film and Television Award for Best Actor in a TV Drama.

Siyabonga Thwala made a significant entrance into the Muvhango cast as Busani Mojalefa. In the same year, he had an appearance as DH Radebe in the e.tv series Rhythm City. He was recognised in 2014 for his performance in the HIV/AIDS drama series Intersexions with his second South African Film and Television Award for Best Actor in a TV Drama.

Yobe is a documentary series produced and hosted by Siyabonga Thwala. It made an effort to bring victims and offenders together in order for them to eventually understand each other and show forgiveness. He co-starred as corrupt former President Hendrik in the 2019 critically praised political drama-thriller The Republic alongside Florence Masebe and Hlomla Dandala.
