Winnie Ntshaba, whose actual name is Bawinile Ntshaba, was born in South Africa on September 1, 1975. She is a South African actress who is best known for playing Khethiwe Buthelezi in the drama Generations season 1.

Personal life history

Winnie was born in Eshowe KwaZulu Natal in South Africa. She studied acting at the University of KwaZulu Natal. Growing up, life was not easy for her. In her childhood she remembered how they used to apply cooking oil as body lotion. Those who went through the same difficult understand how to eat pap without relish. Although she is now on top she once ate pap with oranges thats how poor they were. Coming from impoverished village encouraged her to work hard and further her studies. One of her inspirational person was her Sister who inpired her to further her studies.

The actress was married to Thabo Modise and they had a son together. In 2005, Ntshaba began dating SABC Cameraman Thabo Modise. Ntshaba married Modise in 2006. On 9 July 2009, they welcomed the birth of her son, Phenyo Modise. In 2013 after 7 years, Ntshaba filed for divorce, that same year the divorce was finalised. So far Winnie Ntshaba is not yet in a relationship with anyone else.

In 2021, she lost her father.
Winnie took to social media hours before the event of Royalty Soapie Awards to announce that she just lost her father a day ago. Although the death of a parent is such a painful thing to deal with, the talented actress and entrepreneur comforted herself with the fact that she saw her father just before her birthday, and he gave her his blessings. Winnie’s father was the only remaining parent, after the family lost their beloved mother in November 2017.

Career journey in acting

In 2005, Ntshaba was Auditioned for the role of Khethiwe Buthelezi on the SABC 1 soap opera Generations , and she has been an integral part of the program ever since, until 2015 when all 16 actors of the show were fired for illegal striking demanding better salaries, after the actors went on strike demanding extension on their contracts and royalties from episodes which had been rebroadcast.

After leaving the soap, in 2017 Ntsaba made appearances on Mzansi magic “The Road”, and MTV’s Shuga.

In 2018, after a three-year hiatus from the screen, Ntshaba returned on TV as the lead character on Mzansi Magic hit drama The herd, she played the role of Mam’Ngadi. She has a role on Isithembiso as Mam’Lihle Palesa’s mom. In 2021, she was Cast as Faith Zwide on an eTV soapy House of Zwide. She plays a dodgy wife to Funani Zwide [played by Vusi Kunene], a designer businessmen.(1)

How did she founded Royalty Soapie Awards.

Besides being an actress she is a also the founder of Royalty Soapie Awards.
The Royalty Soapie Awards was founded soon after Winnie got fired from Generations. It was not only Winnie got fired but all the actors who were fighting to get their salaries increased. At first there was this fear of unknown that what will happen after they got fired. Since another door was closed, the other door was open thats when Royalty Soapie Awards was formed. It was first staged in 2014 and 2021 was the 5th Royalty Soapie Awards.
In 2020 they launched the Royalty Soapie Foundation. They go around the communities around the country developing filmmaking skills of disadvantaged youth
