Zama Magubane who is known as Madongwe on Uzalo is South African Actress. She was born in Newcastle, Madadeni and she grew up in Pietermatizburg, KwaZulu Natal. As of 2021 she is 38 years old, she was born 18 June 1983. In terms of schooling, she attended Russell High School and Durban University of Technology where she studied the art of acting. Her favourite colour is Yellow, her reason to chose this colour is because it compliments her brown skin colour and it symbolises the brightness of life.

She is very proud to be mother to her kids, being a wife to her husband and being a daughter to her parents as well as being black. On the questionnaire with Uzalo she said if she had superpower she would like to be Spiderman. She said its in her to save people’s life emotional and mentally without medical assistance.

Zama acting career and how it began

Her love for acting began when she was young. She used to believe that she was talented but could not believe in herself. When she was at Russell High School, she gained confidence after one teacher told her she was good on acting and that she must never loose hope. There were classes at the school where she continued doing practices in acting.

The teacher’s word of encouragement pushed her to want to further her studies in acting. So after high school she applied to study at Durban University of Technology. There she did practices to perfect her acting career.

After she finishing her studies at Durban University of Technology, she began doing theatre dramas. When she was busy with theatre dramas she got a role to play on Intersection as a nurse. Her character was not a big role but that was the beginning of something big. She knew that if she wanted to succeed she must start from somewhere small and grow. She also acted on Isehlukanyiso in 2018 and was a presenter on SABC 3 in 2010.

In 2018 she joined the most watched soapie Uzalo aired on SABC 1.
Zama’s friend took her number and gave to the Uzalo producers to call when they need actors. She waited for almost one months and then she got a call to come for interview.
After the interview she also waited for two days and the third day Uzalo producer called her to come to act.

“After I did the interview my eyes did not go off my cellphone because I was expecting them to call me but for two days I waited and which disappointed me and told myself that I was not successful.

“Two days later I got a call telling me to bring my picture and confirmation of something I had previously copied. At that point I didn’t tell myself that I had actually found the place. But when I arrived I was given the papers and told to start reading my lines, ”she said.
