Former Rhythm City actors who died in 2022 and the cause of their death.
These are well known former actors from Rhythm City. Most people first recognize their talent while acting on Rhythm City. Characters like David Genaro was the main actor in the drama series. People liked him so much due to his villain character he potrayed. In this article we gonna search about who they were in real life and how they died.
1. We have Jamie Bartlett who was best known for portraying a character as David Genaro on Rhythm City. The actor was born 6 July 1966 and died 23 May 2022. His father was from Britain and his mother was a South African which made him a British South African citizen. Jamie was married but unfortunately he divorced. He was blessed with one son named Hector. Later on he got into relationship with Rosa Onious who was his girlfriend. The two were not yet married but they were staying together as couple.
In 2007, he joined to act on Rhythm City. That’s when his character of playing David Genaro began. People felt in love with his character but sadly his character was killed before Rhythm City came to an end. A lot of people lost their interest to watch Rhythm City during that time.
He also made an appearance on Isidingo as Mike in season 1.
After sometime being offscreen, Jamie Bartlett continued to pursue other projects such as teaching. We don’t know exactly what he was teaching. His life was a happily one with his girlfriend on his side. He posted pictures together on his Instagram.
On 23 May 2022, Jamie Bartlett was announced dead. The cause of his death was cardiac arrest which means that he died in his sleep. According to his girlfriend Rosa, he went to sleep but later she tried to wake him up. Unbelievably, he couldn’t wake up. They called the paramedics but upon arrival they find him dead already. It was devastating for everyone who knew him.

2. Mncedisi Baldwin Shabangu was a South African actor, playwright, and theatre director best known for his role as Khulekani Ngobese in Rhythm City, a South African TV musical drama series. He received several honors, including the 2004 Standard Bank Young Artist Award.
Mncedisi was born on November 3, 1969, in KwaMashu, Durban, Natal, South Africa, a region now known as KwaZulu-Natal. Shabangu was 52 years old at the time of his death, which occurred on July 24, 2022.
Mthokozisi Shabangu, the actor’s brother, confirmed the news to TshisaLIVE, saying Mncedisi died in the early hours of Sunday after complaining of chest pains. “He was complaining about chest pains.” It was a brief illness. He was rushed to the clinic and declared dead upon arrival,” he explained.
Mncedisi was best known for his role on Rhythm City as Khulekani Ngobese. He potrayed a character as Suffocate’s enemy. The two were not getting along at all. Among many other shows, he appeared on The Lab and iNumber Number.

3. Brian Majola was popular for his breakout role as Bongani on soapie Rhythm City. He later appeared on Ekasi Stories and Inkaba. On Rhythm City he acted as a musician called Bongani.
Brian acted out as most teenagers do when raised by a single parent in Dube, Soweto, without the presence of his father and in search of a father figure.
He turned to crime to express how he felt and what he was going through. In his early adolescence, his actions led to him finding Leeukop prison as his new home. Sentenced to six years in prison, the feisty adolescent spent the majority of his childhood behind bars.
During his time in jail he discovered his love for writing and music. He then joined a group of musicians while in prison and until the time he was released. After he was released, he already formed a duo with former inmate Fistos and that’s how Gumshev was born.
The circumstances of his death are still unknown. According to reports, the rapper-turned-actor died around 18:00 on Monday evening. According to sources close to the Hosh rapper’s case, his lover discovered his lifeless body. She was detained for questioning, but there has been no word on whether she is being charged with murder.
According to another anonymous source, early indications point to suicide, but without formal confirmation from the family, this remains highly speculative.
